Apple making Face ID repairs on iPhone X easier with new service - The Verge

Apple will be giving service providers access to iPhone X’s TrueDepth camera components to make Face ID repairs easier. The move follows plans to make Face ID easier to fix on iPhone XS and newer models but now includes the older 2017 iPhone model.
