Security forces try to contain an attack by Islamist militants on a hotel in Mogadishu, following two car bomb blasts and gunfire, according to police and intelligence officers.

At least 12 people have been killed in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, after Al Shabaab militants attacked and took control of a hotel popular with government officials.
